Beirut has a Mediterranean climate: humid, warm summers, rainy winters and a sea that is never far away. Apartments open onto balconies, windows stay open for months, and fabrics take salt air, sun and the smoke of a city that lives outdoors. Natural fibres and blends that breathe are appreciated; light fastness and a fabric that airs and cleans easily matter for anything near a window.
The city's design scene is dense and skilled: apartments in Achrafieh, Gemmayzeh and Hamra, houses in the hills above the city, restaurants and bars that change every season, boutique hotels and guesthouses along the coast and in the mountains. Upholsterers and curtain makers are excellent, so studios often specify the fabric and let a local workshop make the piece.
Fabric Library, Al Guthmi, Pierre Frey and Ultrafabrics are the four mills at launch. Cuttings reach Beirut by courier from Dubai or from Europe, and logistics ask for patience, so a studio requests samples at the start of a project rather than at the end. Colour is confirmed on a physical sample in the room before any order.
WEAVRA searches these collections by measured colour, material, wear and use, keeps the fabrics that hold in one selection, and prints an A4 presentation under the WEAVRA name. No price appears on the page: the order stays between the studio and the mill.
