Upholstery and curtain fabrics for interior projects in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi shares the Gulf climate of its neighbour, with long humid summers, intense light and interiors that stay air conditioned from morning to night. The city is lower and greener than Dubai, with wide corniche avenues and islands built for culture and leisure. Curtains face the sea glare, upholstery faces sand carried in on the breeze, and both must keep their colour behind large panes of glass.

Projects here lean towards the institutional and the residential at once: cultural buildings on Saadiyat Island, hotels and villas on Yas Island, government offices and embassies, family homes with a formal majlis and a separate living room, apartments along the Corniche and on Al Reem Island. Formal rooms call for dense weaves and deep colours; family rooms call for cleanable, high Martindale fabrics.

Sampling runs through Dubai: Fabric Library's showroom in the Al Shafar Building is under two hours by road, and its cuttings travel to Abu Dhabi in a day or two. Pierre Frey, Al Guthmi and Ultrafabrics complete the four mills at launch, with European cuttings arriving by courier over a longer window.

WEAVRA lets an Abu Dhabi studio search all four collections by measured colour, material, wear and use, keep the fabrics that hold, and present them on A4 under the WEAVRA name, with the mill's specification on every card and no price on any of them.
